Flip flop D latch

It cannot be a Flip Flop and a Latch at the same time. Flip Flops use clock signals to toggle, latches do not. The functionality is very similar but they are triggered differently. Regardless, thank you for sharing. =)

Actually, D latches kind of live in between a latch and a Flip Flop. It has two inputs, Data and Enable. Often times, a D latch will be used with a DPDT switch so that one push-button will act as an on-off toggle (press once for on, press again for off). In that case, it's a latch. However, the enable input can be a clock input. In that case, the very same circuitry will be considered a Flip Flop. So with a D latch, it really depends on the application. Really, the same can actually be done with a JK flip flop. Since you can make a D or T Flip Flop from a JK, you could then configure the JK as a D, put a switch on the clock, and now it's acting as a D latch, even though it started as a JK flip flop.
