Having:
a) 9.1 V completely charged
b) 8.5 V Used
c) 8,1 V Discharged

Question: How can I make 20mA to run through the leds regardless of the source voltage (within limits obviously)

In this manner each resistor limit current to only one led , in your circuit from one to three.
