1. Your supply voltage must be set to 240*✓2 = 340V. 2. Put the filter cap before the regulator (and one after). 3. Your pass transistors are dead.

to make the chaos perfect. @labt10 your headline says AC220 ... in your circuitnyou have 230VACpeak which is 163VAC! @PrathikP, talks about 240VAC and want you to change to 340Vpeak. Funny right? If we take your headline and the formula from @PrathikP, we get for 220VAC 311Vpeak. You are still there?

now you have set the AC source to 340Vpeak, what is that in you experiment for a rms voltage? I know there are some countries on earth where this voltage is used. We in europe have 230V AC and 50Hz

BTW, now you have changed your experiment to a transistor linear voltage regulator, how serious can we take this experiment, i think its quite impractical, right?

so you do experiments here in EC, right this is harmless and nobody gets hurt. But the circuit is to be honest bullshit. Before the transistor we have already less then 70V so the zener can not conduct, anyway this pure transistor shall drop any voltage above 60V and will heatup mostlikely into an explosion. From headline it suppose to be 48V and not 60V and if you want it working you should go down in power cuz in this 300Watt range it will be bullshit and waste of power

what is more stable. 100V across the two transistors and 7A are P=V*I=700W into heat! Whatever you have verified, very stable firework.
