I am putting together a series of basic circuits as I am learning them. Thanks to various source out there we are able to pick up the basics really fast. This one and much more, I used the help of Learneletronics https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSRTiJhBE5GsP-1fCbpFRWg channel on Youtube. He put together a really nice series to teach you the basics circuits you should know. The switch will drive the transistor and it is easy to see what was shown in the video for this circuit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8c8NLfAP4oY&t=36s . I had to play a bit with the resistors as the 1K suggested although it works in the breadboard, here it wont lit the LED

Yes, EC LED’s have a default operating voltage of 2V and 20mA current. In reality, today’s LED’s will illuminate at lower currents than the EC model. If you want you can change the default current or, as you have, alter the current- limiting resistor.

I would add a high value resistor between base and ground, say 100k, so the base is not left ‘floating’ whist the switch is open. It’s just a ‘rule of thumb’ since in a noisy environment it’s possible the transistor may switch spuriously.
