EveryCircuit 2.28

The time has come to finally expand the schematic area! EC version 2.28 can now handle 386 resistor-sized components, up from 96 possible before the update. Version 2.28 also adds oscilloscope trace measurements. Pause simulation, and you will see two vertical lines in the oscilloscope that you can drag left and right to measure voltage, current, time, and their deltas. Larger area was a top wish from the Community. I remember having a discussion about it in 2015 and at that time I had two concerns. First, low-end devices would struggle simulating large circuits in "real time" without lag. Second, our automatic wire routing algorithm did not scale well with the area and would be just too slow. Since then we have completely rewrote the routing algorithm and now it is much-much faster. Simulation and rendering of large circuits is also less of an issue in 2023 as mobile devices become more capable. So we thought now was the right time to expand the schematic area. I am really excited to see what you will build next :)

Super sick improvement 🔥🔥🔥🔥 can’t wait to test it with building some cool games!

Just discovered that zooming in and out or dragging the screen can be a little rough on the schematic in your post for iOS on an iPhone 13 mini. It can cause the app to crash, but it seems ok if you go slow I think

Thanks for the larger schematic area! However, every time I try saving schematic with a component in any of the 4 corners, my app crashes :(

Hey igor, the trace measurement is a nice feature. However, when multiple signals are plotted at a time, i can't figure out how to select the signal that I want to measure. Also, when the signals are spread, the trace measurement stops!

Thank you for all the feedback! @Issacsutt, did your iPhone actually crash or was it just laggy? @GingerKing, thanks for catching that bug, the fix will come out in the next update. @PrathikP, you can select a signal by selecting a node (voltage) or device (current) in schematic. Currently the measurement only works when the signals are overlayed (not stacked), if that's what you mean.

Hey @Igor, pretty sure the schematic lags when your less careful about how you drag it, and depending on how fast you go, (or slow, but while changing the direction of the drag somewhat quickly), the app will freeze, I’ll usually wait up to about 15 seconds and if it’s still frozen then I’ll have to restart the app. I was able to get the symptoms to repeat at least 3 or 4 times before I figured it was worth mentioning on here

Well done! And thanks for taking the time to rewrite instead of piling on top of older stuff!

I see. Thanks Igor. And here's and idea: make tagging people an actual feature, so they get notified when someone tags them.

Getting notifications when someone writes a comment under my post would be useful too

Cool, now I can't open these circuits on my low end device, thanks for breaking every circuit Igor

You need to update the app. What version do you have installed?

Jeez man, you couldn’t find a nicer way to describe the issue?

I don't see an update for this app in my play store, so I would guess it got auto-updated, every time I try to open this circuit it just goes nowhere, I stay on whatever page I was previously on

If you are on Android, we use some OS features that require Android 5 or higher. So if your device is from around 2014 or before then Google Play will not let you install EveryCircuit updates.

Anyone still using a nearly decade old android phone should get a new one anyway! 😄

Thank you! This is such a long waited feature! Maybe someone is going to fit a CPU or small neural network, lots of possibilities!!!

My device is a 2020 phone with an ARMv7, Android 12, Moto G Pure, I sadly think it's a limit of my 32bit ARM CPU

Could you please check that the installed version of EveryCircuit is 2.28 or higher?
