Slightly modified version to be powered by two 9V batteries in split configuration. BC550C (NPN) and BC560C (NPN) transistors are recommended.

This preamplifier is very easy to build, low-cost, and high-performance. If you're looking for a good preamplifier to connect a turntable with an MM cartridge to equipment that doesn't have a phono input, this is the answer. It doesn't require the hassle of building a special power supply to power it. It can also be installed in a very small cabinet, easily found at any electronics parts store.
