This test indicates negative polarity terminal. Soak filter paper in solution of 1 gram of phenolphthalein dissolved in small quantity of alcohol to which has been added 100 c.c. of 10% solution of potassium chloride. After soaked paper has dried, cut paper into small strips to use for testing. Paper on negative terminal will show a bright red stain.
