An amplifier can be considered as a basic electronic circuit. These amplifiers do exist in various types. Based on the operations performed in various modes and the types of configurations used the amplifiers are classified. Since the output at the source terminal follows the input signal, it is known as the Source Follower. It is also called Common Drain Amplifier configuration, the drain terminal is at AC ground. The input is applied between the gate and drain terminals, while the output is measured between the source and drain terminal. Since the drain terminal is common between the input and output sides, it is known as a Common Drain Amplifier
