This was made specifically to trigger the reset pin of a microcontroller when a 3-pin "normally closed" barrel plug's connector is inserted. You can change the time constant of the momentary switch by changing the value of the Resistor and capacitor in series at the bottom. Doubling the capacitance will double the time constant. An easy calculator can be found here http://www.referencedesigner.com/rfcal/cal_05.php
