This is an amusing con trick. The 100k and 1k resistors represent an LDR in dark / bright conditions. If you build the circuit with the LDR facing the lamp and shielded from ambient light, you can use a match to light the bulb! Surreptitiously covering the LDR as you blow on the lamp gives the impression that you have blown out a torch bulb.
