Here, we have 6 cells in series. One of them can be shadowed by the switch. When switch is on, cell is completely generating. And curve is the best for the group. When this cell is shadowed by opening the switch, it limits group corrent, decreasing all energy production of the group, decreasing current a lot in the I x V curve.
