Voltage Divider Voltage Divider Formula Vout = Vin (R2 / R2 + R1) R1 & R2 Relationship with Vin and Vout R1/R2 = (Vin - Vout)/Vout Vin - is the supply voltage ⚡ that we want to divide. Vout - Is the output voltage that was reduced or devided by the circuit. R1 - Resistor next to Supply voltage that we want to divide R2 - Is the Resistor next to the ground. The resistor R1 and R2 must be high enough to not draw power or current more than its capacity. And must be accurate enough to produce accurate output. A 1% or smaller resistor is suggested. In this circuit we want to devide or reduce a battery voltage of 10 volts. We will use a maximum 10k resistor for R1 & R2. On the 2nd Circuit below, we use a 20k potentiometer as an equivalent circuit.
