The charging capacitor is grounded through the relay, for normal operation the switch bottom right is closed to energize relay, the timer then times out. There is also a spark detection circuit which is simulated by one of the switches on the left, if activated the charging capacitor is grounded immediately through a SCR. There is another switch that performs similar function from a 4099 latch.
