TRV is a phenomenon in AC when trying to interrupt current in a circuit with high inductive load such as motors. The TRV appears across the breaker contacts. In practical cases, the peak of the TRV can reach 2 times the system voltage. Open and close the switch and monitor the voltage across the switch (Breaker)

Interesting. Is this also called "back EMF"?

My understanding for the back EMF is the voltage developed on a conductor due to magnetic flux change.
