One of the most used circuits for in the world for filtered power supplies, a couple of hints; 1, the transformer secondary voltage is normally 1.414 x output voltage required + 10% 18.66V in this case (18V would be close enough). 2, 10-20mA zener current is probably best (I normally go for about10). 3, A slightly bigger zener capacitor will aid in smoothing (Try about 1uf ).
