In electronics, a multiplexer or mux is a device that
performs multiplexing; it selects one of many analog or
digital input signals and forwards the selected input into
a single line. A multiplexer of 2n inputs has n select lines. A 2X1 multiplexer uses one control switch (S) to
connect one of two input data lines (A or B) to a single
output (Z). Only one of the input data lines can be
aligned to the output of the multiplexer at any given
time.
