I was thinking of using this as a efficiency booster for the PSU i recently designed, but I'm using a MAX471 IC as a current sensor in the PSU, and it won't respond well to the variable input voltage and the overshoot the preregulator gives out. Anyway it works as a standalone circuit anyway.
