Multi conductor trace tool

A fun toy put to good use. Add as many test ports as needed to ring out your multi conductor cable. Use no more than 2 switches at a time. The connections between the switches and leds are the wires that need to be identified. Ground is connected based on the length of the cable being tested. This makes the two halves of the unit easier to put away or carry in your troubleshooting pouch. Now it can also work without the timer.

How do you get GND to the other end of the cable? The LED won't light up without.

Ground is connected with a wire. The length of wire needed is based on how long the cable is. A new cable that isn't installed might allow the two units to be beside each other. A cable that is installed will require a length of wire to complete the ground. This can also help with finding broken conductors and testing spares in a cable to replace the broken conductors.

There is no relay in this circuit. Two switches used to power the tool and switch between continuous and blinking light status.
