Transformers act sort of like gears in a transmission Changing the current, and voltage by adjusting the primary and secondary windings like gear ratios There are 2 types stepup and stepdown *Step-up (low voltage, high current)=(high voltage, low current) the Primary winding has few turns and the Secondary has many *Step-down (high voltage, low current)=(low voltage, high current) the primary winding has many turns and the secondary has few Here are the formulas for finding the voltage and currents of the transformation Secondary Current=Primary Current(primary turns/secondary turns) Secondary Voltage=Primary Voltage(secondary turns/primary turns)
