When you add a second voltage source with the SAME VOLTAGE in Parallel it  takes the load off the other supply.   When the switch is open the resistor is drawing 1 amp from the  other power supply.  When the switch is closed the 1 amp resistor is only drawing 0.5 amps from each power supply.
