When we give a.c. current in p coil of transfer then infused emf is produce in secondary coil and upper part of transformer become +ve and lower become negative When we give crust of a.c. current wave. +Brenda of transformer connected with +ve end of diode.then occur become +ve Base. In other cycle it becomes -ve . Resistor create barrier hence we get half rectified waves.

When an a.c. current flows through the primary side of a transformer, the resultant emf causes a voltage to be generated in the secondary of the transformer. If one end of the secondary is grounded and the other end connected to ground via diode and resistor as per the circuit diagram, when that end of the transformer secondary becomes positive, current will flow through the diode and resistor to earth, when the transformer presents a negative potential at the anode of the diode, the diode becomes reverse biased, and no current can flow.
