African Pygmie Elephant Hunt

A herd of wild elephants has invaded and devoured your gardens and crops of your community. The village chief has decided you to go kill the leader female elephant right away so the other elephants will get the message not to come back. You reach for your spear. The procedure. You cannot walk up and spear wild elephants through their thick elephant hide. The ground (poisoned spear tip) with the four resistors (resistors are heavy rock weights) is spear hanging from high tree branch close to tree trunk so when elephant rubs against tree hard and causes the poisoned tipped and heavy weighted spear to fall and will pierce the hide on the elephants back. The vegetable poison will kill the lead elephant in about 20 minutes. I was thinking what would be a control in case wrong elephant came to rub against tree? It would probably need to be radio controlled to turn on release of spear. Wrapping the spear rope around branch several times as when belaying a climber would mitigate spear weight pull. What control release would you use? This spear is deadly so you do not want even nicked when climbing tree and setting it up.
