What are the inductors for? It works without them.

Curious also why inductors? This is just an astable multivibrator so how would it test?

For wyoelk ; this is a harmonic rich circuit and with a wire probe you inject signal into your circuit and read the output on a scope, this will tell if the portion of the circuit is working.

Also your using a known input so any deviation on the scope will be noticed.
