Switching Noise

Here is a demonstration of Eric Bogatin's Altium Academy video about decoupling capacitors on PCB design. (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4REmZlE7Jg&ab_channel=AltiumAcademy) Series 1nH inductors starting after the 100-mΩ source resistance represent the line bulk inductance of the PCB trace. You can observe the effect of connecting the decoupling capacitor at different distances from the power pin. Switching noise is significantly reduced when the decoupling capacitor is connected near the collector pin of the transistor. Which is equivalent to a power pin in an actual PCB design such as VDD pins.

Neat circuit to visualize why the distance of components is so important. Great job 👍
