This circuit was found inside a PIR triggered light. The circuit is as simple as it gets with AC-DC conversion. The only thing of note is the 560nF capacitor that does the stepping down of the voltage, the capacitor limits the current quite heavily which is the downside of using it instead of a transformer, but its way cheaper and gets the job done.
