Top to bottom: doubler, tripler, quadrupler.

Think of the first one as two half-wave rectifiers in series (making a full-wave rectifier).

These are Cockcroft-Walton generators like the one used in a particle accelerator to produce the first artificial nuclear disintegration.

I think something's not right. The ripple frequency should be twice the ac frequency.

First circuit needs ground at out-capacitor. And take care about input voltage which is suppose to be 120V*1.414!
