Inductor's impedance increases with increasing frequency. this high impedance of inductor in series tends to block the high frequency signal from getting to the load (dropping voltage across the 1kΩ resistor).
Blocking a signal from getting to certain load can be done in two ways:
1. high impedance in series with the load
2. low impedance in parallel with the load
