Can someone tell me why the voltage is alternating instead of staying constant like the current? Is a voltage regulator absolutely necessary? UPDATE: Changed some stuff a bit and it works now, thanks to the user in the comments!

the ground is connected to the wrong net, it needs to go to the 'right' side of the output where the negative pin of your capacitor. At the moment you measure the voltage between the left rectifier output and one of the AC input
