In this app leds are configured at 2V and 20ma. The current limiting resistor is...11.9v-2v=9.9v÷20ma=495 or 500ohms. In doing that the 56k resistors would need to be dropped to below 50k each in order for sufficient voltage to bias the transistors. In real life every led is different based on color, size, application, etc...
