It saves energy and when there is a powerfailure it gives the power at the lightbulb.

1. You are assuming that the mains is DC while its AC 60Hz

2. Your lamp is 30mW it probably wont give off much light.

3. Draws 736A when you close the switch, that's like using a power line switch and cutting a main line after rectifying it through a 1kA diode bridge, you're talking about blowing the FUCK up when you toss that switch lmao, trust me, do NOT try at home

It's the fastest way to learn I guess. I remember the first time, years ago, when I blew something up right in my face. (It was a 2N3904, actually, which is why I'm always ranting about checking the datasheet for current ratings for transistors.) It didn't take me long to figure out why it happened, and how to keep it from ever happening again. I believe in safety, and education. Do your homework, and for the love of everything holy, wear safety glasses when playing with electronics, especially when you're a noob and/or prototyping. However, I also believe in natural-selection. If you're dumb enough to go playing with things that can kill you, without bothering to learn safe ways to do so, well then that's just nature's way of tidying up the gene pool.

If anyone is considering something like this in real life please think about using a battery bank inverter setup instead of this capacitor nonsense.
