Diodes are rated at 100 amperes, 50 volts PIV, are to isolate 12 volt vehicle batteries from each other. Check at van conversion or recreational vehicle shops for kit or gear to make circuit to charge two batteries ( engine starting battery and extra auxiliary battery) from engine vehicle charging system.

The basic principles is there, but the supply voltage needs some type of regulation, otherwise the batteries will be either seriously under or over charged. Also a bit of battery information, a fully charged led acid battery off the charger settles down to about 13.2v, an overnight chargers final voltage should be about 14.2v. Rule of thumb, the charging voltage for batteries left on charge is 13.6 for a SLA battery, and 13.8 for a non SLA one. This can be further refined by adjusting a trickle charge rate for a 1mA per amp hour of battery capacity after the battery is charged..

Some alternators output DC charge from built in regulators. System differences have to be considered. I had not heard of diodes with those ratings before to handle storage battery charging.
