This is a 4 bit binary to binary coded decimal converter. It takes a 4 bit binary input and outputs two BCD outputs that when displayed side by side produce a base-10 number from 00 to 15.

Thats a nice little logic circuit, however I do not see a good place of application. Suppose we calculate in 16bit integer resolution and finaly would try to bring a result to a user interface, how can this circuits really be helpful? Whats happend to the digits before the final 0-15 one?

I made this mainly for @DubstepPotatoOli. Anyway, why do you have to criticize every circuit anyone posts because it’s not useful or some other reason? I mean, can’t somebody just post a circuit because they thought it was cool and wanted to share it with everyone even if it didn’t have much practical use?

@jason9 I too have wondered this same thing many times.

Hurz judges good circuits as bad, but if someone judges a bad circuit, Hurz offends him...

@jason9, Sorry, thats somehow my nature, im asking always what its good for. I dont know you did it for another user here. Next time you can mention that in your link or reference. No need to do a troll party here.

Anyway, anybody an idea to my question or all trolls are just in party modus?

You can make an 8 bit BCD converter (0-256) using five subtract-3-if-greater-than-4 units.

That's actually pretty useful. Nice
