An illuminated single pole switch that you would have in your house.  I'm using DC instead of AC to simplify.

Messy! After untangling it, I see it's terribly restricted by the sensing resistor -- it can only work with a very specific load. It would make much more sense (and use no more components) if it sensed the voltage between switch and load instead.

It functions with any load over 20mW, I wouldn't say that's very specific. I tried to keep it compact how a light switch would be.
