Tidy circuits are easier to work with, a zener diode would not be necessary if a 1.5uf capacitor were to be used, because of commercial components available, this circuit is neither attractive nor desirable. http://everycircuit.com/circuibt/6497009579851776

@Billy T...The Zener Diode is for to make sure, that the Voltage is not getting to high at the bulb...to show, that the "unneccessary voltage" is going over the Zener, I choose a different capacitor. Of course you can change the Voltage at the bulb when changing the Capacitor - as it creates a blind [capacitive] (We call it "blind" in german, I am not sure about the english term) resistance. And...hey...this platform is for everyone...not only for super-professionals, like you ;-)
