Gain Determination

Here we have a pair of Op-Amps working as Non-Inverting Amplifiers. The gain of the amplifier is determined by the quotient between resistance from the output to the inverting-input (Ro), divided by the resistance seen from ground to the inverting input (Ri-), plus one. So gain = (Ro/Ri-)+1. Both amplifiers here have their respective potentiometers set exactly the same, however the one on the left has a much higher overall value than it's counterpart on the right. Even so, they both have a gain of 5 at the moment. This is due to the proportion of the resistance values on either side of the input. Slide the wipers of each pot down to 10%, and see how the equation applies to gain..

Yes, very good layout! Different values, different ratios, different amplification levels.

Proportional, just as you said.

Check your sine wave generators, one is 10mV and the other is 100mV

well explained.

Thank you Rick, thank you Jose. northernpeso- thanks, that was intentional. These circuits were only meant as an example, or reference. The potentiometers have different values too. I meant to show that the gain of the amplifier has everything to do with the ratio between the two resistances..
