Three-phase rectifier/inverter schemes are used for variable-frequency drive applications and for high power applications such as HVDC power transmission.
In the example the three phase 50Hz 230V rms input is converted to three phase 60Hz 230V rms output.
One application of that convection is the interconnection of asynchronous grids.
