Representation of the high voltage-doubler section of the Heathkit HP-23A power supply. The 470K ohm resistors across the 1N4007 diodes are additions to the original layout and are there to even out the voltage drop across the diodes. This section of the power supply is rated at 175 watts at 700 volts DC with a current of 250 mA, which translates to a load of approximately 2.8K ohms. The variable load resistor can be adjusted from 3K to no load conditions to see who well the power supply performs.
