These are the basics concepts behind a DC traditional locomotive. The voltage should be a thousand times the simulation voltage. The battery represents the electricity from the overhead wire, while the resistor can be used to reduce the current and the four engines can be in series or in parallel in order to have either a quarter or half the voltage. Of course the relays should work on a different voltage (usually 24v), this is a simplified circuit.
