Without voltmeter how could a voltage check be done? If clumsy, you may shock yourself, that means voltage is present as well. The 2 uf 400 volt rating paper capacitor(should be in 250 nf to 2 uf range rated at 400 volts) in center is connected with insulated "spaghetti" tubing and bare wires at ends between two points we want to check for voltage. First, connect and charge capacitor, as when simulator starts. Open right SPST switch to keep capacitor charged. Next, flip SPDT switch to short bare wire capacitor terminals to each other. If spark is seen voltage is present, or a discharge in ampere meter in simulator.
