It converts from DC to AC using a amplified multivibrator with (2) 4.7uF capacitors, it raises the voltage by AC through a less turns coil to collapsing magnetic field to a more turns coil, then you feel it by high voltage overcomes the resistance of you body enough to hurt you badly so you do not trespass the area.
