DC to AC Multilevel Inverter - Cascaded H-Bridges - 13 levels

Six single phase inverters connected in series are giving 13 level of voltages. With this type of inverter we can have smoother output voltage transitions and that results in very low harmonic content witch make the use of harmonic filter redundant. Multilevel inverters are gaining increasing popularity in HVDC because they can convert the DC voltage to AC very efficiently.

Wow! good job! hard to wrap brain around how you get 13voltages from 6 equal 20 volt sources

@usernames think of it that way...each inverter can create 3 voltage levels, one positive one negative and one that it's zero volts...if you have 6 inverters and you connect all off them in series you can have 6 possible positive voltage levels, 6 possible negative voltage levels and 1 voltage level that is zero...So there you have it 6+6+1=13 possible voltage levels...😉
