Simple Solar Battery Charger

Consider the 30mA source as a little solar panel in the sun and the battery currently at 2.6V as the batteries now fully charged and the LED is lighting. If you want to actually make this circuit with a 4V 30mA solar cell, two 1.2V NiMH batteries, LED and a BC577 PNP transistor is all you need.

But it’s still charging the battery, can it not cut off charging as well?
