Theoretical 4-bit D to A with Op-amp Inverter to change the - V output to a positive output. Activate each bit position to output the equivalent analog value. (Bottom is 0.25. Top is 2.) The 2nd op-amp also reduces the output to 4 volts maximum for use later.

Positive feedback only is a schmitt trigger and not a linear amplifier. Swap plus and minus terminals of both opamps and you do not get a surprise on a breadboard!
