May be they said this thinking to isolation power of transformers (turns wire isolation specified by contructor) ... you are playing with KV potential.

Nope!!!! Because there are still 5kv on each transformer! They said that thinking about the mass of the transformer because they have a tap on the secondary coil where you usually put the ground connection but no ground connection here!!

It appears your using two in series? If so you could create a center tap ground to create a split phase. You will have 5k on one side and 5k on the other to make 10k all together. And then you won't exceed the voltage rating, or at least by half of the 10kv.

In fact this doesn't exceed the voltage ratings of the transformers. There are still 5k on one and 5k on the other

5k + 5k are 10k at output of second winding which makes in the middle of this winding for example 7.5kV to refetenced to ground.
