What type of bug? I will admit first of all I know very little about electronics at all. But it seems that with a resistive load on both the collector and emitter and no resistor to control the base input it will allow the transistor to function anyway. But I'm not sure. Even reversing the transistor it still works with same results at emitter and collector. Again I'm not sure.
