Want to add a rapid fire function in a famicom (nes) controller, but doesn't really understand how the timer 555 functions. Can someone help ? I want to control the rapidfire by a 3 positions switch : OFF, slow, fast. For now, I'm planning to use one timer 555 per button (A and B). Just don't really understand where to put the button in the circuit....

Disconnect the ctrl lead. Either connect a cap from it to gnd or leave it open, there is no need to connect it to that switch. Everything else looks okay, however there are better ways to go about it.

faceblast and njolico, thank you both for your answers. njolico, what would be better to do it ? I searched a lot on the Internet, and could only find similar things for this kind of old controllers... I guess the best way to find how it works is to try in real ^^;
