From 5V to almost 10V. How would I buffer a voltage booster like this? I notice biasing a transistor, to buffer the a higher voltage produced with a lower input source voltage becomes muvh more difficult

So what are all these transistors for? http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6211402334470144

Ohh is that how you do it.... neat!

I had 2 different transistors there to get around the 0.75 voltage drop, by using a PNP with an NPN

I got 1 question for you though; I broke down your circuit there to its simplest form to observe it: http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5271375995731968 ...but what I can't understand is, it looks like the cap always has a charge of 5v across it, but never switches its polarity or anything to add in series with the source to give you a total of 10v, and I see the diode, of course, is key here, but how is there 10v if the cap is not discharging in series with the source?

Never mind I figured it out, thank you

Fine! Look still two shottky diodes will do perform better and the with much less complecity http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6743967810191360

Is that because shottky diodes have a lower voltage drop and propagation delay?

Lower threshold, yes. But speed almost doesn't matter for this type of circuit.

Ah ok
