As most should know. There are battery powered clocks now, and have been for a while, but how does it work? Well, it uses a clever logic trick to accomplish this. Using a chain of 14 flip flops, it precisely divides the quartz crystal's natural frequency of 32768 Hz to 1 Hz using a Logic chain that contains flip flops that flip after their input turns off. In order to keep the crystal vibrations going, it amplifies the original freq and feeds it back into the source, which forces the crystal to keep vibrating. Unfortunately I cannot show the entire circuit due to size limitations of EVERYCIRCUIT. But here's the result of what was explained above. This is also how quartz watches work, same 14 flip flop chain. UPDATE: I added a minute hand
