472 kohm dissipates 160watt in termic power ... to power on a led

To limit energy loss it's better first decrease AC voltage placing a cap in series to AC generator using capacitance reactance principle at 60hz and a little resistor to limit current in transitory instant, after this trasform low AC to DC with the bridge and a cap in parallel to trasforme pulse to something more similar to a DC.

@giomix, its not 472 kOhm its just 4.72 kOhm so hundred times less as your calculated power 1.6Watt which is for me still a lot to power a 0.04W LED

you cant get 160W out of 472000 Ohm even you connect it parallel to mains

even with a correct 170Vpeak it does draw just 360uApeak which is 30.6mW rms
