I need to make a circuit so that when I turn switch 1 on LED 1 turns on and LED 2 turns off and when I turn switch 2 on LED 2 turns on and LED 1 turns off... and i need both LED's to be able to turn off at the same time... the circuit I made here is a fail because both LED's are able to be on.. some advise or a link would be much appreciated!!

Did you try using inverter chips?

I'll try to figure out a version with logic gates, brb ^^

Here's the first one, the truth table looks just like an XOR gate, let me check ^^

Hey there! I published a 2nd circuit using an XOR gate and 2 AND gates, but my app is bugging. Please go to my profile and look at my recent circuits, it should be at the top ;)

Ok one more thing to say, you can find those logic gate chips in dip form, some usually have several gates of the same type in one IC. The first version can be built with 1 AND gate IC with at least 2 and gates and a NOT gate IC with again at least 2 gates per chip. For higher loads make sure to use the proper transistor at the output and a resistor at the base to limit the current flow and protect the ICs :)
